What is Psyche?
Psyche is a psychological AI RPG. An AI Narrator interviews you in a conversational Profile Builder, builds a character from your real life, and drops you into your chosen world. The Narrator tells your story — drawing on your wounds, your people, your drives. Your world knows who you are.
The Profile Builder
Before your story begins, the Narrator asks 12-14 questions about your life — your roots, what you enjoy, what you obsess over, how you handle fear, what you're carrying. The more honestly you answer, the richer your story becomes. There are no wrong answers. Everything you share stays in this session only — nothing is stored on any server.
Tip: Play as yourself. The game is designed for real people, not characters.
Story Mode vs RPG Mode
Basic Mode — Pure story. Choose A, B, or C and the Narrator responds. No dice, no numbers. Just your decisions and their consequences.
RPG Mode — Adds a full d20 dice system. Every choice has a difficulty rating and a stat check. Your roll determines not just whether you succeed, but how cleanly — or how badly.
The Dice System (RPG Mode)
When you pick a choice, the game rolls a d20 and adds your relevant stat modifier. The result is compared to a Difficulty Class (DC). You'll see the full math: rolled 13 + 3 (Strength) = 16 vs DC 15 — SUCCESS.
Five possible outcomes: Critical Success (something extra), Success (clean win), Partial (succeed with cost), Fail (consequence), Critical Fail (catastrophic).
Risk Levels
Not all choices are equal. Each option carries a different risk level — visible before you pick:
A) High Risk — escalate, push forward. Higher DC. Big upside, brutal downside.
C) Moderate Risk — instinct or knowledge. Base DC.
Your pattern of choices is tracked. Consistently pick A) and the world starts to know you're a risk-taker — and your story shifts to match.
Your Stats
Combat stats — HP, STR, DEX, CHA, MANA — drive moment-to-moment survival. MANA is the magic stat: aptitude, spellcasting instinct, your connection to the unseen world.
Psych stats — IQ, EQ, WIS, STB, SHD, HON, VUL, OPT, PLY — derived from your intake and drift through gameplay. Your choices shift them over time. OPT (Optimism) and PLY (Playfulness) directly calibrate the Narrator's tone — high OPT means a more hopeful story, high PLY means wit and levity; low scores push toward darker, heavier narration. Hover any stat to see what it means.
Psych Drift
Your psychological stats are not fixed. Make reckless choices and your Shadow (SHD) rises, your Stability (STB) falls. Show vulnerability in the intake and your VUL score reflects it. The world is a mirror.
Chronicle
Saves your full campaign. Copy it and paste it into Load Campaign to pick up exactly where you left off. Save early and often. A save reminder appears every 10 minutes — don't ignore it.
Psyche ID
Exports your full psychological profile as a portable file. Import it into any Psyche universe to skip the Profile Builder entirely.
Settings
Access Settings via the ⚙ gear in the header. Options include typewriter speed (Slow / Medium / Fast / Instant), sound on/off, RPG Mode toggle, and story font. Three fonts are available — Special Elite (worn typewriter, the default), Georgia (the original classic serif used in all early versions), and IM Fell English (dramatic gothic). Font changes apply instantly to all story text.
Help & Feedback
Two buttons live in the header: ? Help opens a live AI support chat that knows your current game state — ask it anything about the rules, your character, or how the game works. ✉ Feedback opens a direct line to the developer. Both are AI-powered and context-aware.
Tips
The more you put in, the more you get out — your story is built from what you share
You're not limited to A, B, or C. Type anything — your own action, a question, a feeling. The Narrator responds to everything.
